I wont lie, I was pretty scared of this recipe, of cooking at all in fact. I didn’t have a clue what a haricot bean was and I’ve never had garlic that didn’t come in bread from Dominos. My housemate had to show me what to do with the garlic clove and how to crush it. It looked so simple but I still managed to get more garlic on the stove than in the pan! My housemates are finding these attempts absolutely hilarious! But I must admit it tasted pretty good seasoned with salt and pepper with toast and it was so quick to make. I’ll definitely be doing this one again it was so yummy and kept me full for hours..success!
The recipe is simple though even with my basic skills it tasted really good! I much prefer it to the canned baked beans from the supermarket!
You’ll need a tin of haricot beans (400g), 1 tin of chopped tomatoes (400g), and 2 tablespoons of crushed garlic. Mix all together in a pot and simmer for 10 minutes until the beans are soft, or slightly less if you want a crunch!
Side note: These beans go really nicely with some home made bread !
Oh and if cooking with your beans is your thing you should definately check out this tikka masala I made with chickpeas!
